How Scissors were invented..

Spring-like scissors are believed to have been in circulation since the Bronze Age. A spring shaped like the letter 'C' in English had two leaves attached to it and a handle at one end.
  • In Egypt B.C. Around 1500, such scissors were used in handicraft work.
  • The original form of scissors was used in ancient Rome and Asia. These scissors were made of bronze and iron.
  • As different methods of metal forging developed, so did the quality of shears.
  • In 1761, Robert Hinchcliffe produced the first scissors using cast steel.

This changed the shape of the scissors.
Scissors were made in a variety of shapes and sizes after Robert made them. Also the handles of those scissors were of different designs.
  • Later in the nineteenth century, the method of making scissors also changed and became easier and more convenient after the use of machines everywhere.
  • The carbon content of the steel used to make the scissors is determined by the quality of the scissors. Scissor blades are made from steel by heating it. These leaves, which are initially soft, are made hard by cutting properly. It can have carbon content from 0.55 percent to 1.03 percent. More carbon is used for sharper scissors.
  • Scissors used for surgery and other special purposes are made of stainless steel.
